Lonely Beach

Gushing waves breaking in raves,
Glistening sands wet in my hands.
I rove there lonesome to find peace,
Thoughts come and go only to fleece.

The gentle sea rolling by,
Plying with my eyes not so dry.
The expanse of nature for my soul to pry,
Patting my heart it’s manly enough to cry.

Stood lone on that lonely beach,
God sermonizing me to preach.
What to grasp what knowledge to seed,
When she slithered by dressed in peach.

Mind stilled and the body filled,
Suddenly the despondency was entirely killed.
Innocently she walked to a crooked smile,
Her response made all the effort worth while.

I kicked the ruinous sand castle to ground,
With my feet beach I was ready to pound.
I cleaned the empty scribble on the sand,
Started playing a tune of my lost band.

On that lonely beach the music flew,
With each beat she came to me anew.
Disproportionately the magic grew,
As amongst clouds together we flew.

But as the day to close drew,
She smiled like a seductress true.
"You will be always in my heart,
So never fret when I depart."

Yes on that lonely beach,
My sanity has been breached.
Waiting since eons for her to reach,
Where she left me so cheap.

Note: This is one of the rare poems by MS Jaswal that has  a soft romantic hue to it and conveys a special depth in connection with both time and space.

A lovely poem, the imagery is vivid and emotions very raw.

A lonely man left lonely on a lonely beach after a brief touch of some special woman. He is still waiting but I wonder if she will get back keeping in mind that eons have passed since she is gone. Also, if she wanted to be with him, why did she leave him in the first place?

Whatever, his sanity has been breached, so even if she should chance to get back will he recognize her? Perhaps he was destined to be alone.

This poem brings out a sad, lamentable condition, a strong love and an adamant hope which lingers on.
