The lake outside my window
Was still like a mysterious mirror
As the night passed on softly
Into a dark and errie abyss
I lay beautifully spread on my bed
Waiting for an entry into the land of nod.

Suddenly the man of my dreams
Tall, dark and handsome appeared in front of me
He loved me the way love should be
And then we held hands in cool bliss
To look out at the lake that seemed to be
Haunted now by a thousand ghosts in a storm.

I clung on to him in fright and he lifted me up
Carrying me in his arms he storde down the stairs
The doors swung open as he trod into the pathway
Realising that he was making for the lake
I opened my eyes to glance at his face
What did I see but a twisted, tainted, errie stranger.

Screaming at the top of my lungs
Even as he hurled me across with purpose
I jerked myself upright to sit up on my bed
Microseconds before I touched the cold ghastly lake
Alive and breathing, it felt great to have broken the spell
The nightmare would, of course, have had me stone dead.
