Arrogant Soul

We met in a gorgeous lift
Life took a welcome shift

Eyes blinked in pleasure
That no scale could measure

Hands we contentedly held
Distances were qualitatively shelled

Hearts beat in unison
This was a paradise prison

Minds met like never before
Compatibility beat every other score

Souls met in celestial glory
This was a stark new love story

Years of spouse's shrewd company
Had never churned up such nectarine honey

Bodies fitted with natural sensuality
Love makings defied the known quality

The minutes changed to a couple of years
And then suddenly it was time for tears

Realization rudely pricked my conscience
Oh God, does this love have a clearance

Social bindings pulled us back
That spouses shouldn't be hurt was the crack

Clandestine love was never my style
But he wanted me with him every mile

Sanity prevailed and I vouched for a 'No'
He promised me he would die if I should go

Love was pure and care was true
Yet it didn't seem fair to continue

Breaking off would be like losing a life
A friend, a lover and a soulmate should we knife

I confusedly feared we were fiercely out of norm
He arrogantly claimed we were on the 'right' side of the wrong.....

Note: This poem captures an emotional upheavel and rationalises the depth of pure love between two people...to do a right thing for it is right , is a right thing to do....This poem starts out very sweetly, and ends in a sort of bittersweet way....
